Role (Lead): Bam, Voice
Unfortunately I do not have an images of this performance other than that poster on the right. (I know our posters aren't too great – no offense Steve [chair of the Theatre and Film Dept at the Governor's School]).
Bits of Beckett consisted of a few pieces by Samuel Beckett. I was in the piece What Where. Since we had the versatility, and also because the pieces were not long, all the pieces were filmed and edited together in a video; which was similar to Hamlet since this also took place during the COVID years.
The funny thing about Beckett, and especially What Where, is that their is borderline nothing you do. It's like you just say lines, at least that is what Samuel Beckett wanted. It gives the audience a huge range of interpretation, and I think that is what Beckett was striving at; opposed to the interpretation of the director or the actor.
This was my second "play" and I played Bam in it. It was a fine piece, short, cute, epic.
I also recorded (on my own time) my voice on my microphone for certain parts and it was used for the performance! It was played over the speakers of the Black Box for the film and it actually sounded pretty cool (for a lack of better words). I have a very deep vocal range and I make make my voice very very velvety (as my teacher put it). That is also the reason I was the Ghost for Hamlet because of my voice. I thank my elementary school chorus class for that deep voice.
Fun Fact: I took chorus classes during my entire Elementary and some Middle School time. I regret not continuing singing, because the more I grow, the more I see how beautiful singing really is. Ah, I was childish to quit it. But I want to get back in, badly.
