Role (Supporting): Ghost, 1st Player
Hamlet was my first "play." I say play in quotation marks because it wasn't really performed like a play, in front of a live audience. It was filmed in the Governor's School Black Box, edited together and then posted on a website called ShowTix. It is now no longer available because it was only run like it would have been for a live performance. Limited time access basically.
I played the Ghost and 1st Player, sure not major roles but who cares? IT WAS HAMLET!! I never thought I would be in Hamlet.
Since it was the COVID years, rehearsal was not ordinary. We did it over the infamous ZOOM and then we came into the school to perform in the black box. We filmed parts in small groups over multiple days like we were making a movie.
It's very ironic how I was the youngest person on set and I played the oldest character.
Hamlet was a great learning experience, a fun performance, and also the proof that we can continue to perform and create even during the world's darkest hours; and how much we need such performances to continue to thrive as people and grow as artists.
Fun Fact: I had HEAVY make-up applied to me for the Ghost and First Player. I looked like a completely different person. Also, my costume for the 1st Player got me on the cover for the Governor's School pamphlet for the 2021-2022 year. (Images Below).
