Mrs. Friel also took pictures of this performance!! She deserves credit so she will get it.
The set (by Sean Blue) was magnificent and we were able to use the local Masonic Temple's space, which was huge, as our theater which was magnificent.
In this show, I had to completely make up a character from scratch. My director, Steve Earl, just pushed me in there and gave me stage directions for lines. Fortunately Sarah Ruhl gave some love to her stage directions and I was able to make something out of it. I played a music major telling his story through the tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice. Throughout the entire show I was standing on a 8-10 foot platform and the light was always on me (I like being on stage so it was no biggy). I had the ability to control a moving barrel of water and the ability to lower the ramp of the set, which was EPIC. It was like I was the puppet master.
The Cast and Crew all pulled through and gave it our all. So much so that Steve Earl said that Eurydice shot up to his top 5 list of plays he had directed. Which is funny since he initially wanted to do Faustus, but then cancelled it. But then he gave us Eurydice to read, everyone in his class loved it and so we did it. It was not an easy show for the technical team but they did a fantastic job. Everyone did!
Ultimately, I am very proud of this show.
Fun Fact: This is the first live audience show that I used a microphone for, because the space was just that big.
