Role (Lead): Puck
The final show of the year. My final show at GSA.
Involving the entire department, this was the biggest show I've ever been in, in all my four years at GSA. People from all different levels and backgrounds came together and became a family, a family that was born from the love and desire of creative performance, or rather: the Theatre. From that family, the members have grown, they have learned, they have loved. We were small flower buds, wavering in the wind, the wind that was pushing us back and forth, making us doubt, controlling who we were. Some moments, the world grew cold; with the desire to make this the greatest show, we pushed hard, we overthought, we let the winds control us. Yet, as we learned, we grew stronger, our stem got tougher and from that we become a flower, shinning as brilliant as the rays of the sun united like patches of dandelions, yet diverse like a botanical garden. It was a dream. Tears shed at the end, friends were hugged, mentors were touched, and the flame of the department moved on. A Midsummer Night's Dream at GSA was the end of a saga, the final performance for a sprawling generation. Steve Earle's retirement as the Chair of the Theatre and Film Department. Family, although they move on, we know they will always be there.
I'm proud of this show. I must shoutout Kaiya Prince and Matthew Hakanson most importantly. Two people I hold dear to my heart for we've spent to the most time together as the fairy beings. They've taught me and I must say, Kaiya helped free me. Thank you. Great things will come to great people and I'm expecting the best for them.
This play will go down in my history books. A final "farewell" to the Governor's School for the Arts, as a student that is. I'm not sure what the future holds with me and GSA, but I'm excited to see where we'll be.
